Tiger Hill Sunrise – Darjeeling

Darjeeling is one of the attractions in India and having lots of places to visit and enjoy nature of beauty. Tiger hill is one of the famous tourist spot in Darjeeling. It is a summit of Ghoom, highest railway station in Darjeeling.  It is famous for its beauty which offers Mount Everest along with Kangchenjunga.  It is 11 km from Darjeeling and is the best place to spend holiday. This awesome view can be enjoyed early in the morning at around 4 am from tiger hill and is well known as sunrise point.  You will need to start by 3:30 am so that you reach by 4:15 am. From here Mount Everest is just visible, tweeting out through two other peaks standing by its side.  Kurseong is also visible to the south on clear day and in the distance, along with Teesta River, Mahanadi River, Balason River and Mechi River twisting down to the south.

Darjeeling weather can be change anytime. Fog and the mist come from nowhere and put a white blanket all around. In fact looking at the weather and the sky in Darjeeling there is no indication of how the weather may be at tiger hill. Trekking

There are two approaches at Tiger Hill for trekking.

1)      Tensing Norgay road from chowrasta mall area is free from motor traffic, leads through villages of Toong Soong and Aloobari. This route goes through tea gardens and through Allobari Monastery, and then finally meets with the hill Cart road at Jore Bungalow. Tiger hill is 5 km climb up from here to the top and takes 2 hours to climb.

2)      Gandhi road goes via forests area and lots of rhododendrons on the way.hill cart road meet to Gandhi road at Ghoom area from where climb to tiger hill starts.
